Submissions Guidelines
What we’re looking for:
We want to read your pieces that play with our heartstrings. We favor works that are highly emotional, experimental in form/language, and especially those that feel light-hearted, bittersweet, and tender. Having said that, emotions of all kinds are welcome here. Bring us your healing, your sadness, your aches, and all your joys and pleasures. Genres accepted include poetry (maximum 30 lines or 500 words of prose), flash non-fiction (maximum 1500 words), reviews, and visual art. Check the theme of the month before submitting.
Accessibility:
This journal prides itself on attempting to be as accessible as possible for readers and contributors alike.
For contributors: no fees will be collected for submissions or publications.
For readers: access to our publications will remain free, and we strive to provide video readings so you can listen along if that better suits you.
How to submit:
All works must be submitted to our email: submissions@tunafishjournal.com
Please format your subject line as follows:
Submission - LastName - Genre
Please make note of any content or trigger warnings pertaining to your work! This is very important to me as a reader. Just a line in the body of the email or within your document is fine.
Please do not include a bio with your submission, as we will be asking for details upon acceptance.
Written works should be attached in .docx or .pages format. Visual works may be submitted in .pdf format or images.
You may submit up to three (3) pieces per submission period (calendar month). If you are submitting in multiple genres, please send one email with separate files for each genre.
